Kirill Surov - Batman vs. Police

Born in Russia Kirill Surov lives in Toronto, Canada. He became interested in photography in 2003 and since then has participated in international exhibitions in US, Brazil, Russia and Canada and has had multiple publications including B&W Magazine. Kirill works exclusively with traditional black and white media and prefers hand printing his photographs. He is mainly interested in metaphysics of the moment and light and tries to approach documentary photography from a completely artistic angle. His photographs are characterized by bold forms and shapes often contrasting with or hiding the actual subject of the picture, nevertheless they almost always express more than just a graphical abstraction.

Batman vs. Police is from the "Formalisms" series. The picture was taken in Toronto. Kirill reacted on a dramatic opposition of overpowering, still transparent Batman and a tiny police car.
