P. Elaine Sharpe, her ongoing pursuits of signification through aesthetically deceptive images that conflate history, disappearance, amnesia

This image is from "fugitive", the recent exhibition of P. Elaine Sharpe at LEE Ka-sing Gallery. This image, along with others from related bodies of work represent her ongoing pursuits of signification through aesthetically deceptive images that conflate history, disappearance, amnesia and un-forgetting.

P. Elaine Sharpe is a visual artist who works consistently within a strong theoretical and conceptual base. Her work has been shown across Canada as well as internationally and is in numerous public and private collections. Non-linear narratives and liminal experience frequently inform Sharpe's work. Some recurring thematic explorations in her large scale photographs, video work and installations are notions of truth, absence, and spectral thresholds.
