Dima Black

Born in Moscow, Russia, in 1994, Dima Black is the son of artists Marina and Bob Black. He moved to Toronto, Canada in 1998 where he currently resides. His parents gave him a film camera when he was seven. He enjoyed photographing people and the different places to which he travelled with his family. He has enjoyed shooting pictures ever since.

The photographs selected for the Good Edition program were taken in Toronto and in Montreal between the years 2003 - 2004 using a 35mm camera and Black & White film. Two of the photographs ("Photographer" and "Man in the Dark") were taken during a walk through Toronto's Chinatown. "Up" was taken in Vieux-Montreal. The photograph "Meadow" is from a series taken from the balcony of his family's first apartment which overlooked Toronto.

Dima continues to be interested in photography and now enjoys making short films as well.
