Henrik Drescher's Surtr (God of fire) series - inspired and based on Norse mythology - which are the collective myths of the Scandinavians



Henrik Drescher's Surtr (God of fire) is from the a series of sixteen drawings he produced in 2006. They are inspired and based on Norse mythology - which are the collective myths of the Scandinavians (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland).

Born in Copenhagen, Henrik Drescher and his family immigrated to the United States in 1967. He studied briefly for one semester at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (1974) and began working in illustration around Boston. A world traveler, Henrik traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe, lived in Bali and New Zealand before moving to Dali, Yunnan province (close to Tibet and Laos) which is now his home-base with partner Wu Wing Yee. Henrik is currently artist-in-residence at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen.
