Daphne Gerou - exposes the temptations that will surface in one's passage through time, the hazards and curiosities that shape in their appeal

This drawing is a narrative illustration of the perils of travel, both literal and spiritual, metaphoric and not. It exposes the temptations that will surface in one's passage through time, the hazards and curiosities that shape in their appeal, the lives we live. Humour is essential in this observation. The rabbit is, in itself an archetype, the delicate, naive, quite vulnerable creature that inhabits us all. And as such, the impending danger of its curiosity is all the more poignant in its foolishness. But where is the light coming from? The desire to know is overwhelming.

Daphne Gerou is a Toronto based visual artist. She works primarily with narrative imagery, rendered with graphite in an illustrative form that takes reference from the fairy tale genre.
